EnPLAF is a technology to derive beneficial biological factors (proteins) from patient’sown blood platelets. EnPLAF products are rich in growth factors but do not contain any live cells.

The beneficial biological factors secreted by platelets known to be important in healing, regeneration and pain reduction are:

  • Growth and new generation of keratinocytes (predominant cell type in the epidermis –the outer layer of skin)
  • A small amount of blood is drawn at the doctor's office by well trained staff.
  • EnPLAF will be derived from the patient's blood using our proprietary technique in a state-of-the-art laboratory as the patient waits at the doctor's office for about 2 hours. EnPLAF is administered by the doctor the same day.
  • Alternatively the patient can give their blood at their convenience and come back for the EnPLAF administration at a later appointment with the doctor.
  • Additionally from a single blood draw, we can prepare multiple EnPLAF products (as indicated by the doctor depending on your condition), then store them for future use. The additional EnPLAF will be properly labeled and stored in appropriate conditions by our staff until the patient is ready for injection.

The number of EnPLAF therapies a patient needs will be determined by the doctor depending on the patient's condition. The patient may need one or more EnPLAF therapies depending on their condition. NeoKine offers packages for multiple EnPLAF to be given over time, but for most packages patients will have to give blood only once. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is blood plasma with high levels of platelets-basically a concentrated source of autologous platelets. PRP has been used broadly in several areas of medicine and aesthetics to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation and initiate healing. The degranulation of platelets in an injury releases the biological factors into the local environment giving the beneficial effect.

However, injection of live platelets present in PRP has several drawbacks:

  • PRP injections are painful
  • PRP cannot be stored without losing activity and potency. It has no shelf life and therefore must be administered almost immediately upon derivation
  • The process of deriving PRP does not have a standardized protocol; it varies from company to company. Therefore the quality and quantity of platelets and thus its biological effects are always variable in currently available PRP

EnPLAF on the other hand is a technology to derive beneficial biological factors from patient's own blood platelets. Our EnPLAF products are rich in growth factors but do not contain any live cells.

EnPLAF does overcome most of the problems associated with PRP:

  • EnPLAF does not have live platelets, so it is not painful
  • It has an excellent shelf life because it has no live cells, just biological factors
  • It can be stored for long without losing activity
  • It can be refrigerated or even frozen for future use
  • It retains activity after freeze-thaw, and thus has much better shelf life
  • It has higher concentration of factors
  • EnPLAF derivation has a standardized protocol for extraction – harvesting a fixed amount of product in each run. Total control. Total reliability.

Some local side effects like pain, swelling or infection at the site of injection may occur in some patients. Patients should contact the doctor immediately if they experience any side effect.

Absolute Contraindications

  • Platelet dysfunction syndrome
  • Critical thrombocytopenia
  • Hemodynamic instability
  • Septicemia
  • Local infection at the site of the procedure
  • Patient unwilling to accept risks

Relative Contraindications

  • Consistent use of NSAIDs within 48 hours of procedure
  • Corticosteroid injection at therapy site within 1 month
  • Systemic use of corticosteroids within 2 weeks
  • Tobacco use
  • Recent fever or illness
  • Cancer- especially hematopoietic or of bone
  • HGB < 10 g/dl
  • Platelet count < 105/ul

Generally, patients can expect gradual improvement starting the first two weeks after EnPLAFadministration. The complete effect of the procedure will be known within three to six weeks after the last EnPLAF administration, depending on an individual's healing capacity. Certain patients may need one or more EnPLAF administrations. Depending on the severity and chronicity of their condition, results of the procedure may vary by individual.
